WHEELS & TIRES. Engineers specified larger 15x7-inch wheels for the Boss 302, and for 1969, these were all of the Magnum 500 five-spoke style. However, the standard-issue wheels were finished with argent painted centers, while wheels with the more familiar chrome/black centers in the same dimensions were optional.

33 posts · Joined 2008. #23 · Nov 6, 2008. There is no reason to find a 'real' Boss 302 for a 65-68 and you real only need to find a real Boss if your building a numbers matching 69-71 Boss Mustang. For all other pseudo Boss builds just use a 302 block and 4v Cleveland closed chamber heads. Much cheaper.

The Boss 302 carried an MSRP of $3,720, however, this particular Mustang was not a retail sale. Instead, it was an intra-company, "Company Lease Plan" to Ford's Central Office Building Garage. It came complete with rear deck spoiler ($20) and SportsRoof ($65), Shaker hood scoop ($65), AM/FM ($214), and an array of other options.

The 1969 Boss 302 (top) and the 1970 edition (with optional Shaker hood) were slightly different. The '69 heads had enormous 2.23-inch intake valves, while the '70 had slightly less so, but still enormous, 2.19-inch intake valves. The steel crankshaft in the '69 was cross drilled, while in the '70 it wasn't.
